SA lawmakers vote to droop diplomatic ties with Israel, shut embassy
South African lawmakers voted on Tuesday in favour of closing down the Israeli embassy in Pretoria and suspending all diplomatic relations till a ceasefire is agreed in its warfare with Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in Gaza.
The decision is basically symbolic as it is going to be as much as President Cyril Ramaphosa’s authorities whether or not to implement it; a presidency spokesperson didn’t instantly reply to a Reuters request for remark.
