“Fear of nuclear”: there is no way to force Putin to comply with a peace agreement, says Polish Government advisor

Damian Przeniosło, advisor to the undersecretary of state at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, refuses the accusation against his country that it has a particular obsession with Russia. “As Poles, we have always been accused of having a very bad relationship with Russia over many years and, therefore, being obsessive about it. No, we are not. We are realistic. We know what Russia is, because we have a long relationship with it.†Because he knows Moscow, as he argues, he knows why Ukraine wants to move away from its sphere of influence.

In an interview with Expresso, at the Estoril Political Forum, which took place between the 3rd and 5th of June at the Hotel Palácio Estoril, organized by the Institute of Political Studies of the Catholic University, the senior Polish official guarantees that the West does not understand Russia and which does not support the idea that Donald Trump’s re-election is worrying. It also presents its fears for the outcome of the war in Eastern Europe and the process of Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
