Israeli army confirms attack in Gaza that killed 29 people in a school where several families were sheltering

The Israeli army confirmed this Wednesday the attack in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, which left at least 29 dead and more than 50 injured in a nearby school, where displaced Palestinian families were sheltering.

“Using precision munitions, the Israeli Air Force attacked a terrorist from the military wing of Hamas who participated, among other terrorist activities, in the brutal massacre of October 7 carried out by the organization Hamas is a terrorist in southern Israel,” the army said in a statement.

The Israel Defense Forces “are investigating reports that civilians were injured near the Alawda school in southern Khan Yunis, close to the site of the attack,” he added.

At least 29 people died in Tuesday’s attack, according to the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas.

In Khan Yunis live many people displaced by the land invasion of Rafah, the southernmost city in the Gaza Strip, where Israeli troops entered in early May and have been operating ever since.

The war began on October 7, 2023, following a Hamas attack on Israel that killed around 1,200 people and kidnapped 252.

Since then, Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip have caused more than 38,000 deaths.
