Israeli troops carry out another massacre in the Gaza Strip: 262 days of war

This Saturday was marked by the death of at least 42 Palestinians, victims of Israeli attacks against two densely populated areas in the city of Gaza: the Al-Shati refugee camp and the Al-Tuffah neighborhood.

According to the first information released by Israeli media cited by the The Guardianthe bombings aimed to assassinate Hamas’ chief of operations, Raad Saad.

Hamas did not comment on the Israeli claim of having hit its military infrastructures. In a statement, Hamas stated that “the occupation and its Nazi leaders will pay the price for their violations against our people†.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, within 24 hours, Israeli troops took the lives of at least 101 people in refugee camps and residential areas and injured another 169. Most of the victims were taken to the Al-Ahli hospital. Since the Israeli air raid in Nuseirat, which killed 280 people, there has not been such a high number of deaths in the Middle East conflict.

On Friday, the Gaza Health Ministry said that at least 25 Palestinians had been killed in Mawasi, west of Rafah, and 50 had been injured.

According to the agency Reuters, the Israeli army stated that the incident was being analyzed. “An initial investigation conducted suggests that there is no evidence that an attack was carried out by the Israeli defense forces in the Al-Mawasi humanitarian area,†he says.

The ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, which began on October 7, 2023, has already killed more than 37,500 people. After more than eight months of war, Israel’s advance is now focused on the last two areas that have not yet been conquered: Rafah, in the extreme south of Gaza and the area around Deir al- Balah, in the center.
