Spotify raises prices in the US for the second time in the space of a year

Spotify will increase the prices of its subscriptions premium for the second time in the space of a year, in the United States.

The value of the plans premium Individual plans will increase by one dollar, from $10.99 to $11.99 per month, while family plans will increase by three dollars, from $16.99 to $19.99. In July 2023, Spotify had already increased these values, for the first time since 2011.

“As our platform continues to grow, we are updating our pricing premium so that we can continue to innovate, in changing market conditions,” can be read in a statement from the platform. “These updates will allow us to continue providing quality to fans.†.

Subscribers will receive, via email, a notification about this price increase, being entitled to one month of tolerance before it.

This increase means that plans premium from Spotify are now more expensive than those from competitor Apple Music, which remain at $10.99 per month for individual plans and $16.99 per month for family plans. There is still no information on whether this price increase will be reflected in the rest of the world.

For now, in Portugal, prices are 7.99 euros for individual plans and 13.99 euros for family plans. There are also university (4.99 euros) and duo (10.49 euros) plans available.
