US Defense Intelligence estimates that the US Army has already spent almost a billion euros on ammunition in the campaign against Yemeni Houthi rebels who have been attacking cargo ships at sea since December Red.

According to a report from the United States of America (USA) Defense Information Services, the interests of more than 65 countries were affected and at least 29 large maritime transport and energy companies were diverted from the region.

The report notes that “the alternative routes around Africa” ​​that most freighters were forced to follow represent “up to two more weeks of travel and almost an additional million euros in fuel.”

Supported by Iran, the Houthi rebels, who control the most populous areas of Yemen, launched attacks against Israel and ships to which they attribute some type of relationship with the country, as a result of the offensive against Gaza Strip after the October 7, 2023 attacks by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas on Israeli soil.
