Word of the week #84: Muse

I have lost count of the mournful chronicles of middle-aged men (among whom I include myself), and older than that, lamenting their lost youth and how much they loved Françoise Hardy without her and, for tell the truth, anyone else in the world knew. And it hasn’t even been seventy-two hours since the French singer’s death. Or perhaps it is in the hours immediately following that the phenomenon is most noticeable, discreetly fading as the days go by.
