Jon Rahm sets out on Tyrrell Hatton’s trail in Nashville

Nashville, the country capital, has created a unique pulse with 18 holes left for the resolution of the ninth stage of LIV Golf. The step in the great party created as a result of Bryson DeChambeau’s victory in the USOpen – unleashed by spectators who even take off their shirts – is marked by Tyrrell Hatton, the last of the signings, Jon Rahm’s English teammate in the Legion XIII and partner in the Ryder Cup, whom he leads by four strokes. Next to Barrika, DeChambeau remains, with John Catlin one shot ahead.

Hatton, a rocky player, had a very successful Saturday in the short game. He was dull for 11 holes, a birdie and all pars. But when the final stretch arrived, it was unleashed. He made six birdies in the last seven holes, including a chip from the edge of the green on the 13th, and went to 13 under par after turning in an error-free 64. “It was a little frustrating at the beginning, but I’m happy with how I finished.”

Not even DeChambeau (66), who prolonged the state of grace he found in Pinehurst although not on the greens, was able to discuss the leadership of the golfer with prominent biceps who is aiming for his first victory in the LIV Golf and among the legionnaires.

Rahm (63), meanwhile, did not feel comfortable with many of his shots and despite that he delivered the best card in the entire field. He complained, at first, about the positions in which his irons landed, but then with the putter he was fabulous. He started with a bogey on the 6th hole, his first hole, and from there he made nine birdies in the next 16 holes. Due to his performance on the green, he also began to play precise shots and created a relevant option to try for the first victory in the LIV on Sunday and the first since the Augusta Masters 2023.

Among the other Spaniards, the Fireballs They fell flat after the first day. Chacarra threw 70 punches, Sergio, 71; while David Puig fell to 73, although not as much as Ancer (75). l
