There will be no Russians or Belarusians in the equestrian at the Paris Games

The International Federation of Equestrian Sports (FEI) announced that Russia and Belarus will not participate in the equestrian events of the Olympic Games from Paris.

Although the International Olympic Committee has left open the door for athletes from these countries to compete under a neutral flag, in the case of equestrian the Federation does not contemplate this possibility. The Russian and Belarusian riders have not competed in FEI events since March 2, 2022 and have therefore not been able to accumulate the points necessary to qualify for the Games

“According to the Olympic classification systems for equestrian sports, the Individual qualification is guaranteed through the FEI Olympic Rankings for Jumping, Dressage and Eventingcovering the period from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023. Since Russian and Belarusian athletes have not competed in FEI events since March 2, 2022, there will be no representatives of these nations at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,” says a statement made public by the FEI.

The The non-presence of Russians and Belarusians in FEI events during this time is due to the ban that the Federation itself established after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
