Democracy is under attack from the ‘sharp power’ of China and Russia, but what power is this and does it really exist?

The global assumptions of the last three decades have been “called into question†by regimes such as the Chinese and the Russian. At the same time, “the power of authoritarian states†was underestimated, as well as the “reverse engineering of globalization†carried out by them. These were two of the key ideas of the intervention by Christopher Walker, vice-president of Studies and Analysis at the American non-governmental organization National Endowment for Democracythis Tuesday, in the 32nd edition of Estoril Political Forum.
