“Large influx” in the emergency room at Loures hospital causes “high waiting times”

The “large turnout” at the emergency room at Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, in Loures, is causing waiting times “higher than desired”, according to a source at the health unit, having reached 1 p.m. wait.

“Due to the large influx of patients at the General Emergency Service, and the high number of critical, urgent and emerging situations, requiring hospitalization, which are currently overcrowded, waiting times are longer higher than desired”, reads a response sent to Lusa by a source at the Loures hospital.

In this way, the hospital reinforces its appeal to users to contact SNS24, via the number 808 24 24 24, before going to the unit.

At 2:00 pm, and according to the website of average waiting times in hospitals, the Loures unit, in the Lisbon district, had a 10:00 wait for care for urgent patients in General Emergency.

Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, located in Quinta da Caldeira, in Loures, is a public hospital of the National Health Service, integrated into the Loures-Odivelas Local Health Unit.

ULS Loures-Odivelas serves a population of around 242,000 inhabitants living in the parishes covered by the Health Centers of Loures-Odivelas (with the exception of Sacavém) and Pontinha.
