Opening in July, castle tower is attraction and symbol of new resort in Chaves

The castle tower is one of the elements that stands out as you approach the project built by Isolino Marçal, an emigrant to the United States, and which will reinforce the hotel capacity of the municipality of Chaves this summer O. At the top of the 30-hectare property, where the Pedra Pura Resort is being created, the mini-castle, highlighted by the tower, which houses three suites, has already become a source of curiosity. The village of Castelo, close to the project, and the history of the place, where there was a castro, served as inspiration for the construction, which in addition to being an attraction is also the symbol of the Pedra Pura Resort project.

“This project is an innovation, it has very different characteristics,†businessman Isolino Marçal told the Lusa agency, who divides his time between Portugal and the United States, where he maintains architecture and construction in Connecticut. Scheduled to open at the beginning of July, the new resort is already accepting reservations (from €280) for the 40 suites. They are all different, “each with its own identity†and integrated into the landscape offering panoramic views over the valley of the city of Chaves, from the balconies. Inside there are also elements that stand out, such as the washbasins carved into schist stones or the showers among the granite rocks that were kept in the accommodation. There are also doors made from old beams or those from churches or the São Francisco Fort, as well as reused old wooden cabinets. Also the roots of olive trees and pine trees, some uprooted to plant vineyards and orchards, or chestnut trees from Padrela, Valpços, where the businessman was born, were transformed into pieces of furniture such as tables, counters or benches.
