This Tuesday, SIC welcomed the condemnation of Cristina Ferreira’s company to pay more than three million euros for breaching the contract with the station.
The sentence handed down by the Judicial Court of the District of Lisbon West “recognizes the legitimate claims of SIC and proves damages caused by the presenter upon her departure from the station”, understands the station, namely that “the contract with SIC could not be freely revocable†and that “there was no breach†of the channel in relation to the employment contract signed with the presenter “and in relation to s its consultancy functions to the Programs Department†.
With regard to the value of the compensation, the Grupo Impresa station highlights the fact that the “amounts requested” were included in the valuation of the penal clause.
SIC also emphasizes that the court calculated the compensable amount based on the increase in expenses that the station had with the program Casa Feliz, which premiered the day after Cristina Ferreira left the station. However, the remaining values were not taken into account, in part, because the commercial teams mitigated the loss with the presenter’s departure.
Thus, “SIC is studying, with its legal advisors, and taking into account the matters of fact and law proven in favor of the station, the possibility of requesting a reassessment this part of the sentence”.
Cristina Ferreira’s departure from SIC was announced on July 17, 2020, when it was announced that she would return to TVI – where she had left around two years before – in two months as director and become a shareholder in Media Capital .
