Stock markets return to gains in May and rises in raw material prices accelerate
Global stock markets reversed the previous month’s downward trajectory in May. The MSCI world index rose 3.8%, offsetting global losses of 3.4% in April. New York stood out with gains of 4.6%, but the Buenos Aires stock exchange once again took the lead in markets around the world, with a surge of almost 25%. The MSCI index for developed markets in the euro zone rose 2.9% and, in Lisbon, the PSI index, of the 16 main listed markets, registered gains of 3.1%, above the European average. EDP Renováveis and BCP bank recorded monthly increases above 10%.
