With pan dishes and a taste of the sea, chef Arnaldo Azevedo opens a bistro in the Matosinhos Market

Centered on the flavors of the sea, the “passion†of chef Arnaldo Azevedo, who runs the Vila Foz restaurant, at the Vila Foz Hotel & Spa, in Foz do Douro, the menu at the new Bistrô focuses on proposals such as “Thestras†, “Fish broth rice†or “Flamed prawn with phosphorus potatoes and fried egg†. But there is also space for customers to choose their favorite products from the stall and take them to the restaurant, at Mercado de Matosinhos, where they will be prepared.

“Sopa de peixe†​​(€8), “Escabeche de carapau”. (€8,5), “Fried squid with cuttlefish ink mayonnaise†(€12), “Bluefin tuna strip with teriyaki†(€16) or “Oysters†(€16) are proposed to start. The menu includes dishes such as “Fish broth rice from the marketa “Fish pasta from the market (both €22.50), to “Shrimp moqueca with basmati rice (€22), or the “Flamed shrimp with match potatoes and fried egg†(€23).

Although the aromas of sea air are favorites, there is also room for suggestions of meat in the starters, in the “Veal patties†with horseradish mayonnaise (€3), o “Prego do loin†with French fries (€12) or the “Steak tartare†(€14) and in the main ones, where the “Portuguese sirloin steak (€19) and the “Steak†like meretention period of 60 days (€65/Kg),

In the desserts chapter you can choose the “Cake of the day†, the “Burnt cream milkas “Cream from heavenâ€o “Chocolate and raspberry dessert or “Romeo & Juliet†(all €5.50). To accompany it, there is a wide selection of wines from all over the country and Veuve Clicquot champagnes, recognized for their balance between structure and delicacy.

Here we have more options of traditional Portuguese cuisine, such as “tacho dishes†, such as fish rice, or lighter snacks, such as cod fritters and rissois†, says the chef Arnaldo Azevedo in a statement, adding that it is an “uncomplicated cuisine, with charcoal grills and many familiar flavors, the missing space to complement the offer we already have with the contemporary cuisine of Flor de Lis and the haute cuisine of Vila Foz†, he highlights.
