Some animals will have young children with out the want to mate. Colloquially known as a “virgin birth,” this happens thru a procedure known as parthenogenesis, in which a feminine animal creates an embryo from an unfertilized egg. The offspring have a tendency to be just one intercourse — all male or all feminine.

When an animal solely reproduces this fashion, the method is named obligate parthenogenesis. For animals that most often reproduce sexually this procedure is named facultative parthenogenesis. Such non-compulsory parthenogenesis is most often very uncommon.
