Mobi.E records record use of electric vehicle charging points in May

The Mobi.E electric vehicle charging network reached a new usage record in May, with more than 487,500 charges carried out, the company said this Tuesday. According to the data released, this number represents an increase of 70% compared to the same month of the previous year, making May the best month ever for the network. Furthermore, energy consumption reached almost 10 GWh (gigawatt hour), an increase of 88% compared to the same period in the previous year.

From the beginning of 2024 until the end of May, the Mobi.E network recorded more than two million uploads, carried out by more than 150 thousand different users. These data indicate a 67% growth in both indicators compared to the first five months of last year. Until May, 45 GWh of energy was consumed in this network, an increase of 85% compared to the same period in 2023.

The company points to the growth of the charging network as one of the main factors that contributed to this performance. In May, the network had around 4900 public access points, totaling more than 8650 charging points. The power available on the grid at the end of May was 270 MW.

Electric vehicle users had almost 1800 fast or ultra-fast charging stations at their disposal, representing 36% of the total network.

Mobi.E states that in the first five months of the year it helped to avoid more than 34 thousand tons of carbon dioxide, which would be equivalent to the absorption capacity of 569 thousand 10-year-old trees in an urban environment.

Currently there are on average 75 sockets for every 100 kilometers of highway and 101 sockets for every 100 thousand inhabitants.
