“April continuation” or “historical revisionism”? Right beats left and November 25th will have a formal session

Two months after Nuno Melo announced that the Government would create a commission for the celebration of November 25, 1976, the CDS returned to the charge and presented a proposal for holding solemn sessions , similar to what happens on April 25th. Once again, the date divided the hemicycle and led to an inflamed debate with especially strong criticisms thrown between the most left-wing and right-wing parties.

The CDS defended that the 25th of November is the “continuation†of the 25th of April, while the PCP accused the centrists of having as their objective a “historical revisionism†of those who “never conformed†with the Carnation Revolution. PS and Livre recognized the importance of November 25th, but refused to approve the right-wing proposals.
