Portuguese Fatoumata Diallo breaks national record in the 400 hurdles and qualifies for the Olympic Games

The Portuguese Fatoumata Diallo set the national record in the 400 meter hurdles in 54.65 seconds today and secured qualification for the Paris2024 Olympic Games, during the semi-finals of the European Athletics Championships.

The 24-year-old Benfica barrier beat the previous best national mark, 55.22, which belonged to Vera Barbosa since August 5, 2012, without, however, ensuring direct qualification for the Rome 2024 final , with fourth place in the first semi-final.

Fatoumata Diallo, who had 55.33 as a personal record, surpassed the 54.85 Olympic ‘minimum’, increasing to 12 the number of representatives of the sport with a qualification mark for Paris2024.
