Russia has begun the second phase of exercises of its tactical nuclear forces, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported this Tuesday.
“In accordance with the decision of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, the second phase of exercises of non-strategic nuclear forces has begun,” the ministry said in a statement released on the social networks.
Tactical nuclear weapons, also designated as “non-strategic”, have destructive power, but are less powerful than “strategic weapons”.
The first phase of the maneuvers took place in May, after an announcement from the Russian Presidency.
At the time, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the first phase of the exercise involved Iskander and Kinzhal missiles.
